Since 85 years the IAF has been tirelessly, courageously and selflessly working to ensure that we have a good night’s sleep. We can’t thank them enough but can definitely be a part of the IAF and surrender our rights to the safety of our Mother India! The IAF conducts various exams to enroll students right after 10+2, graduation and Post Graduation. There are 3 branches of the IAF and can be joined through different portals:
- Technical Branch
- Flying Branch
- Ground Duty Branch
If you missed your chance after your XIIth exam, you can appear for the following 6 exams TCF has jotted down just for you. Qualifying them will pave a way for you towards a life filled with glory and pride:
1. CDSE EXAM:
The Combined Defence Service Examination is conducted by the UPSC, twice every year. Only graduate men can appear for the test meant to sieve officers for the Flying Branch. The training for the selected candidates is conducted at AFA before moving them to specialised flying training establishments. Graduates from any discipline with Physics and Math in their 10+2 are eligible for the exam.

2 UES ENTRY:
University Entry Scheme is meant for engineering students in their penultimate year, for recruitment in the technical branch of IAF. Only men are eligible for this test. Training at AFA is followed by training at Air Force Technical College in Bangalore, for the selected candidates. Those clearing the written test have to face the SSB(Service Selection Board).

3 AFCAT:
AFCAT is the biggest test conducted for inducting officers into IAF. Both men and women are permitted to be instated as officers in all the three branches of IAF, i.e. Flying, Technical and Ground Duty. AFCAT is conducted twice every year by IAF and includes an added test called EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test) for Technical branch aspirants.

4 FTS
The Fast Track Selection Test is conducted for deploying officers in the Flying Branch and meteorological & accounting sections under Ground Duty Branch. The selection process is bestrewed over a span of 6 months. FTS ensures the procedure is completed within 10 days. This test can be taken by both men and women with qualifications as per the branch!

5 NCC Special Entry
Once again an exclusive entry for men aiming for the flying branch. Training procedure almost same as the CDSE. As an Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ Certificate holder of the National Cadet Corps, you can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force.

6 Meteorological Branch
The IAF has a separate branch for weather analysis and is only open to post-graduate students from any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geophysics / Environmental Biology. Both men and women can directly apply for the same. Only selected candidates further, for the SSB.
